How Payments Work with Hare

Hare partners with Stripe, a secure payment service used by millions of businesses worldwide.

Hare uses Stripe Connect to process payments securely and get you paid quickly. Here's how it works:

Step 1: Client Books & Pays Deposit

When a client books your services, they pay a 30% deposit through our secure payment system.

Step 2: Deposit Transferred to You

The deposit (minus service fee) is automatically transferred to your bank account.

Step 3: Client Payment Process

Client pays 30% deposit at booking through our secure payment system. You receive your portion of this within 2 business days.

Step 4: Remainder Payment Processed

The remaining 70% (minus service fee) is automatically charged and transferred to your account 24 hours before the appointment.

Daily Payouts: Your funds are transferred to your bank account on a daily basis, typically arriving within 2 business days.

24 hours before the appointment, the remaining 70% is automatically charged to their card on file. No action needed from you or them.

Understanding Fees

Hare charges a 6.5% finder's fee only on bookings made through Hare. Your directory listing is always free. This fee helps us:

  • Maintain and improve Hare
  • Provide customer support for you and your clients
  • Market Hare to connect you with more clients
  • Cover payment processing costs

Example (Hare bookings only): For a $200 appointment booked through Hare, the client pays a $60 deposit. You receive $56.10 (after 6.5% finder's fee). After completing the service, the client is charged the remaining $140, and you receive $130.90 (after 6.5% finder's fee). Total earnings: $187 (93.5% of the total price). This fee only applies to bookings made through Hare — your own booking methods are not affected.

Setting Up Your Stripe Account

To accept bookings and receive payments through Hare, you'll need to set up a Stripe Express account. This is optional — only needed if you want to use Hare's booking system. If you prefer your own booking methods, you can skip this. Setup typically takes about 10 minutes.

  • Legal name and date of birth

  • Mobile phone number
  • Social Security Number (SSN) or Tax ID
  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Bank account information for deposits
  • Description of your braiding services

What happens if a client cancels?

The 30% deposit is non-refundable once you confirm an appointment, ensuring you're compensated for reserving your time. For the 70% remainder payment (if already processed), refunds depend on timing: client receives 100% of remainder if cancelled 24+ hours before, 75% if 12-24 hours before, 50% if less than 12 hours before, and 0% for no-shows. Hare handles this process automatically.

Is there a way to see my payment history?

Yes, you can view all your transactions in both the Hare dashboard and your Stripe dashboard.

What happens if there's a payment dispute?

Hare and Stripe work together to resolve any payment disputes. Our team will assist you throughout the process to ensure a fair resolution.

Can I change my bank account information?

Yes, you can update your banking information at any time through your Stripe dashboard.
